The Mary Spinks-Thigpen Oratorical Scholarship contest will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Evening Star Baptist Church.

(1st- 3rd place winners in four tiers | Kindergarten- 12th grade). More than over $2000 in scholarships!

Mixer event featuring networking, drinks and fun with sponsors and organizers. The event is BYOB. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $15.

The celebration kicks into high gear today with a community parade on MLK Blvd. followed by a Freedom Day festival at the Amos Croutch Sr. Ball Field in North Gulfport.

Come and enjoy live entertainment, vending opportunities, activities, cultural education, children's activities, and more! Our stage show will consist of a “Gospel Extravaganza” kicking off in the morning, “Blues at Noon (R&B Hour)”, and finally the “Freedom Rally” with local hip/hop - rap artist.

 This day will feature the Freedom Brunch & Awards “Honoring Black Fathers, Leaders, and Advocates”
Community Awards & Scholarships will be presented. A special presentation for all Fathers attending.
Brunch tickets are $20 presale: $25 at the door. Food provided and served by local restaurants and businesses.
